His practice has a particular focus on power sector and upstream energy activities. He has advised clients on transactions, financings, public-private partnerships, regulatory compliance, and other matters involving the full range of traditional and renewable energy sources —including , biofuels, offshore wind, solar, geothermal, hydrogen, oil and gas, and coal. He is highly regarded for his ability to work seamlessly and collegially with local counsel, in-house legal departments, key executives, and government agencies and regulators. Joe routinely advises clients that rely on his detailed, wide-ranging knowledge in areas such as financing and building new facilities; complex engineering, procurement, and construction contracts; power purchase agreements; sales and acquisitions of power generation facilities; cross-border and international ventures; alternative fuel vehicles; EV charging networks; and the development and operation of cogeneration and power generation plants. Retail energy suppliers value his counsel on commercial and regulatory aspects of their businesses.
As an active member of numerous legal and industry associations, Joe has chaired committees and held other leadership positions focused on the transition from traditional to new energy sources.
