Richard Tyler is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group. He focuses on construction matters.
Rich has been a member of the Litigation Practice Group since joining the firm in 1982, and is a former chair of the firm’s construction practice. He handles complex litigation, arbitration, and mediation matters in the fields of construction and real estate, business litigation, and health insurance. He has represented developers, owners, contractors, design-builders, subcontractors, suppliers, and design professionals on a wide array of projects, including airports, chemical plants, industrial facilities, pipelines, refineries, multi-family housing, hotels, schools, libraries, and hospitals. In addition, he has drafted and negotiated complex construction and design contracts for a variety of commercial, industrial, and petrochemical projects.
He has been a member of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) National Roster of Neutrals since 2004, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators since 2014. He is experienced with ad hoc and administered arbitrations under the AAA, ICC, ICDR and UNCITRAL arbitration rules, and he has served as an arbitrator in over 50 cases. His ADR training includes AAA (commercial and construction arbitrator), the Harvard Law School Mediation Workshop, the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (Administration & Practice Workshop, Advanced/Chairing Workshop), and the CIArb International Commercial Arbitration Training Program.
Rich has been an active member of various associations serving the construction industry, including the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law, where he is a former member of its Governing Committee and a past chair of the Division 3 (Design) Steering Committee. He frequently writes and speaks on a variety of topics and has participated in seminars and programs for numerous professional organizations.
